Presidential qualifications

I think John McCain is more qualified to be president than Barack Obama.

Let me amend that, I think Mr. McCain has a longer resume to be president than does Mr. Obama.

Im not saying which of the two would make the better president. On this blog, thats for you to decide.

I found it interesting, and a little surprising, that Obama received the most votes in this past weeks news poll question, which was Who do you think is most qualified to be the president of the United States?

Obama received 202 votes, or 44 percent. McCain received 182 votes, or 39 percent. (Again, presidential questions tend to bring out a higher number of votes, in this case 464 votes.)

It made me wonder what people consider as qualifications. Is it just the resume? Or do qualifications also include beliefs, policies and personal characteristics?

I also found it interesting that Sarah Palin received almost as many votes (30 votes) as Joe Biden (32 votes). Just as I think McCain is more qualified than Obama, its clear that Biden has a much longer resume than Palin. But then theres the executive experience issue, which Republicans repeat when touting Palin.

So what do you think? What do you consider when you compare candidate qualifications? And how do this years candidates compare?

This next weeks poll is a lot less serious than recent ones. It asks what your favorite thing about Cheese Days is. Its OK to wait until after Cheese Days is over this weekend to vote!
