MONROE — The Monroe Wrestling Club came out in full force on Saturday, March 18 at the Youth State Qualifiers. The Monroe Wrestling Club had 37 wrestlers compete at either Fort Atkinson, Mineral Point or Westby. The top three in each age group/weight class move on to the Wisconsin Wrestling Federation Kids Folkstyle State Championships on March 24 and 25 at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison. Of those 37 wrestlers, 24 punched their ticket to youth state — 23 finished in the top three and one placed fourth but was called up to wrestle.
There were 11 champions and all 11 girls who competed are moving on to state. Monroe Wrestling Club is also in the top 12 teams (over 350 teams participating) for the number of qualifiers going to state.
