OREGON — Eleven Monroe Mat Rats competed in the Oregon Youth Wrestling Tournament Jan. 5 at Oregon High School. It was a four-person round robin tournament bracketed out by birth year and weight.

For the 2006-07 birth year, Cole Meighan (73-77 pounds) placed second; Carson Menehan (85-87 pounds) placed first; Connor Eckdahl (87-91 pound) placed first; and Payton Weckerly (97-105 pounds) placed fourth. For the 2008-09 birth year, Althea Eckdahl (78-83 pounds) placed third; Wyatt Weckerly (80-86 pounds) placed fourth; and Joah Wellman (95-100 pounds) placed third. For the 2010-11 birth year, Gage Ostby (48-50 pounds) placed third; Evelyn Eckdahl (55-59 pounds) placed fourth; Oliver Helland (63-66 pounds) placed third; and Patrick Harms (75-80 pounds) placed first.

Gage Ostby (birth year 2010-11, 50 pounds) also participated in the Badger RTC Battle for the Badger in Waunakee on Jan. 6 and placed fifth in a 10-man scramble bracket.
