Holcomb third at Edelweiss

NEW GLARUS – Argyle’s Mason Holcomb took third in the boys 16-18 year old class Wisconsin Junior PGA Tour event at Edelweiss Chalet and Country Club in New Glarus July 19. Holcomb shot a 4-over-par 76, one shot behind Cottage Grove’s Jakob Schroeckenthaler and five shots back from medalist Kip Sullivan, Verona.

Holcomb birdied the par-4 first hole and the par-5 third but sandwiched a double-bogey on the second hole. He finished the front nine at 2-over with a 38, and duplicated his score on the back nine, which included a birdie on the par-5 15th.

Jacob Krantz, New Glarus, was 11th and shot a 16-over-par 88. High school teammate Jared Martinson, New Glarus, was 12th with a 19-over-par 91. Martinson’s highlight of the day was a bird on the par-5 15th.

Blachardville’s Jeffrey Saether shot a 34-over-par and came in 15th while Luke Brecklin of New Glarus was 16th after shooting a 140.

In the boys 14-15 year old division, New Glarus’ Ty Ready was fifth with a 13-over-par 85. Monroe’s Brennan Boyce shot a 25-over and finished tied for 16th. Boyce’s day was highlighted by a birdie on the par-5 third hole.

In the boys 12-13 year old class, Monroe’s James Boyce placed 12th with a score of 137.
