MONROE — The Monroe Avalanche Bantam B team played Oregon Dec. 15 and lost 6-4.

Monroe started off on fire, with Aidan Grey netting two goals in nine seconds. Easton Dreyfus would tally an assist on the first goal. Sergio Fletcher would increase Monroe’s lead to 3-0, off of a pass from Grey.

The rest of the game belonged to Oregon, however, as they would score five unanswered goals before Grey capped a hat trick, stopping the opponent’s momentum.

Oregon led 5-4 after two. Oregon’s goalie stopped all nine shots he faced in the third period. Monroe goalie Xander Obert saved 30 in the game.

On Dec. 16, Bantam B team headed north to face South Central in Reedsburg and lost 7-5.

Grey again opened the scoring off of a nice dish from Jayden Downs. South Central would answer right back however, and Grey would alternate goals with South Central for most of the game. Assisting Grey on his five goals for the game were Haden Barker, Sergio Fletcher and Carson Kurschner.

Monroe failed to capitalize on four power play opportunities on the day. Goalie Xander Obert had 17 saves in the loss.

Next up for the Avalanche Bantam B team are a couple of home games during Christmas break, starting with the Patriots on Dec. 29.
