MCFARLAND — The Monroe PeeWee A only had one game before the Christmas holiday — a rematch against McFarland, which won 4-1 earlier this season. The Avalanche knocked off the Spartans 3-2 in the follow-up game Dec. 23.

Monroe was first to score when Cole Buholzer went end to end and tucked one in the net.

McFarland answered back with two goals of their own in the first, leaving Monroe trailing 2-1 at the end of the period.

At the start of the second period, Monroe came out strong and Alex Beer put another score on the board to even the game at 2-2.

The score would remain tied until 2:45 into the third when Carter Nemergut scored on a rebound off of a slap shot from Cole Buholzer.

Brock Brandli was in the net for the Avalanche and recorded 21 saves.
