MAZOMANIE - The New Glarus boys basketball team struggled at the free throw line and couldn't dig out of a 10-point halftime deficit in a 68-53 loss to the Wisconsin Heights Vanguards in Capitol South Conference play Thursday.
The Glarner Knights (10-7, 3-5 Capitol South) made just 11 of 25 free throws.
Senior Ryan Bright scored 16 points for New Glarus while teammates Cameron Jeglum and Tyler Dorn chipped in with 15 points and 10 points, respectively.
Wisconsin Heights (14-2, 8-0) remains the leader in the Capitol South. The two teams could face each other again in March in a tough Division 3 regional which includes Orfordville Parkview, Cuba City, Darlington and Belleville.
