WAUNAKEE - The Monroe wrestling team lost a Badger Conference crossover dual meet to Waunakee 41-18 Tuesday, Jan. 14.
The Cheesemakers (1-13) won two of the 10 matches wrestled. Picking up wins for the Cheesemakers, were sophomore McKenzy Foley at 145 pounds and junior Mitch Swanson (160).
Foley defeated Waunakee's Hunter Schoepp 11-4. Swanson edged Waunakee's Alec Putnam 5-4. The other win for the Cheesdemakers came from Mitch Millner due to a forfeit.
The Cheesemakers forfeited at 220 and heavyweight. Monroe senior Brett Zimmerman after winning two matches at the Verona duals, is still recovering from a back injury.
In three other close matches Tuesday, Waunakee's Trevor Statz defeated Monroe senior Austin Minder (195) 7-5, Brody Joseph defeated Monroe's Jarod Amacher (138) 6-3 and Cole Hooker defeated Monroe's Traiten Gorr (182) 5-1.
