WATERTOWN - Mike Harshbarger used a steady diet of breaking pitches to keep the Monroe baseball team off-balance and lead Watertown to an 11-0 win over the Cheesemakers in six innings on Friday.

Harshbarger tossed a three-hit shutout and struck out seven.

"He threw breaking balls on about 90 percent of his pitches and was always around the zone," Monroe coach Dustin Huffman said of Harshbarger. "We weren't really used to seeing so many breaking pitches. We didn't hit too many balls hard. He kept us off-balance with a barrage of curveballs."

Monroe sophomore Dagon Rach went 1-for-1. Senior Jacob Ritschard was 1-for-2 and the other hit came on senior Hogan Edwards' double.

With the loss, Monroe drops to 6-14.

Monroe senior Brad Ripp started on the mound and pitched four innings. He gave up six earned runs on seven hits. Ripp struck out one and walked four.

Rach tossed 11⁄3 innings in relief and gave up five runs on five hits. He struck out one and walked two.
