Warriors, Vikings aplenty

MONROE - There were 14 football players from Black Hawk and Pecatonica-Argyle that received Six Rivers All-Conference honors recently.

Black Hawk senior Hayden Schliem was named first team all-conference as a wide receiver. Schliem had 31 catches for 724 yards and 10 touchdowns. Senior teammate Jace Johnsrud received first team all-conference honors as a specialist. Johnsrud rushed for 1,056 yards and 12 touchdowns, and he had 10 receptions for 252 yards and three touchdowns. The first-team player on offense was Pecatonica-Argyle sophomore kicker Christopher Severson.

Potosi and Highland each finished 7-1 in the Six Rivers and shared the conference title. Black Hawk finished 6-2 and Pecatonica-Argyle was 4-4. Highland coach Shaun Reuter was named the coach of the year.

The first team all-conference selections on defense included Black Hawk junior defensive lineman Logan Stietz, Black Hawk junior linebacker Coltin Piefer and Black Hawk senior Kyle Woodruff as a defensive back. Pecatonica-Argyle senior Jared Johnson was named to the first team as a defensive back and junior teammate Jon Hendrickson was named to the first team as a punter.

The Warriors had two second team all-conference offensive players in junior quarterback Merik Meythaler and senior kicker Michael Walker. Walker also received second team linebacker honors. Pecatonica-Argyle senior defensive end Kevin Flannery was also selected to the second team.

The Warriors had three players receive honorable mention all-conference including Piefer as an offensive guard, junior Cuyler Meier at defensive end and junior Cory Rupnow at punter. The other area honorable mention selection was Pecatonica-Argyle senior Kyle Zwicker as a specialist.
