Warriors sweep Panthers

SOUTH WAYNE - Senior Sammy Lovelace had 14 kills, and the Black Hawk volleyball team rolled to a sweep of Juda Thursday.

Black Hawk topped Juda 25-16, 29-27, 25-14. Black Hawk junior Hannah Herbst had 10 assists and freshman Hannah Butler posted three blocks. Black Hawk's Teearia Sweeney and Lovelace each notched three aces.

Juda senior Sara Jordan had a team-high seven kills and junior Hailey Kammerer had six kills and a team-best four blocks. Senior Alexis Goecks racked up 20 digs, and senior Chelsea Burkhalter added nine assists.

In WIAA Division 4 regional tournament openers Tuesday, third-seeded Black Hawk hosts sixth-seeded Pecatonica, and second-seeded Juda hosts seventh-seeded Abundant Life Christian/Saint Ambrose.



Argyle 3, Albany 0

ARGYLE - In a preview of an upcoming regional matchup, Six Rivers East champion Argyle closed the regular season by sweeping Albany.

Argyle junior Ashley Bruehlman had a team-high 11 kills and 11 digs to lead the Orioles to a 25-17, 25-9, 25-13 victory over the Comets.

"They came out very strong with a lot of intensity and energy," Argyle coach Jen Butler said of her team. "Hopefully, they can do that on Tuesday."

Argyle (14-7, 12-0 Six Rivers) will host Albany in a WIAA Division 4 regional quarterfinal match Tuesday.

Argyle senior Kayla Butler-Paulson dished out a match-high 26 assists. Morgan Godfrey had six kills and four aces. Argyle's Sam Mick posted four blocks and four aces.

Senior Sayde McDermott had six kills to lead the Comets. Senior Taylor Seffrood had five assists and two aces. Libby Beck had two blocks.



Cambridge 3, New Glarus 0

CAMBRIDGE - The Blue Jays topped New Glarus in the regular-season finale.

New Glarus senior Devon Boll had a team-best four kills and five assists. Junior Riley Parker had nine assists and senior Madison Perkins had a team-high 12 digs.

New Glarus junior Willow Lee notched three aces, and senior McKinley Righter added two blocks.

The seventh-seeded Glarner Knights will go on the road Tuesday to take on second-seeded Belleville in a WIAA Division 3 regional opener.
