Warriors' streak alive; Comets top Barneveld

SOUTH WAYNE - With a three game sweep over the Juda Panthers, the Black Hawk Warriors captured their 29th straight Six Rivers Conference win Tuesday night, 25-6, 25-15, 25-22.

Senior Kim Wellnitz led the Warriors with 12 kills while senior Katie Place and junior Rachel Rygh added seven kills each.

Senior Savanna Kaster had 10 assists and junior Alyssa Piefer had eight assists for Black Hawk.

Juda was led by senior Heather Boeke with three kills and junior Aly Pierce with five assists.

Black Hawk travels to Argyle and Juda hosts Monticello on Thursday.

Albany 3, Barneveld 0

BARNEVELD - Junior Sydney Bump paved the way for Albany with 12 kills, 12 digs, and one block as the Comets topped the Eagles in three games, 25-15, 25-16, 25-20.

Junior Courtney Pfeuti set up her teammates well with 24 assists while junior Kaitlyn Schulz served up eight aces to go along with seven kills. Junior Hillary Best also had six kills and a block for the Comets.

Albany improves to 5-1 in the Six Rivers East and 7-2 overall. Barneveld falls to 0-6 in the conference. The Comets travel to Monticello on Tuesday.

Cuba City 3, Darlington 0

CUBA CITY - The Cubans, ranked second in the Wisconsin Volleyball Coaches Association poll, cruised to a three game sweep of the Redbirds behind Emily Kaiser's seven kills and Natalie Meckstroth's 20 assists, 25-9, 25-8, 25-12, in SWAL Conference action.

The Redbids were led by Miranda Wiegel and Elizabeth Mathias with two kills each, and junior Vanessa Riley with three assists.

Darlington's next match will be Tuesday at Southwestern.

New Glarus 0

NEW GLARUS - The Glarner Knights dropped three tough games to Cambridge and fell to the Blue Jays 25-22, 25-22, 25-17 in Capitol South Conference action.

Senior Tanya Gruter put down 10 kills and junior Lauren Narveson dished out 10 assists for New Glarus. The Glarner Knights also got six blocks from sophomore Jenna Romich and six digs from junior Alexa Secord.

New Glarus will be back in action Tuesday, Sept. 29, at Marshall.
