The nominations for this week's Athletes of the Week are as follows:

Monroe

Kristin McArdle: The junior pitched a perfect game in leading the Cheesemakers to a 10-0 win over Madison Edgewood April 29. It's McArdle first no-hitter and perfect game. It's the second perfect game in Monroe history. McArdle induced 11 groundouts and she struck out four in five innings.

Kris Rieder: The senior pitched a two-hit complete game and struck out 11 in pitching the Cheesemakers to a 2-1 win over Edgewood April 29. With the win, Monroe earned a season sweep over the defending state champion Crusaders.

Taylor Soddy: The freshman improved to 7-2 this year at No. 2 singles and remained unbeaten in the Badger Conference after he defeated Baraboo's Alex Mann 6-0, 6-4 April 29. Monroe improved to 6-1, 2-0 Badger South as the Cheesemakers edged Monona Grove 4-3 April 27 and defeated Baraboo 6-1 April 29.

Area Boys

Alex Erickson, Darlington: The junior won the 200-meter dash (:23.16) and the 400 (:53.65) and he also ran on the first place 1,600 relay to help the Redbirds capture the championship at the Cuba City Invitational April 29.

Tyler Meier, Monticello: The senior was 2-for-4 with three RBIs including a three-run triple in a 12-6 nine-inning win over Albany April 26. He followed that up with a 2-for-3 performance and just missed a game-tying home run in the seventh inning in an 8-7 non-conference loss to Highland April 29.

Ross Gilbertson, Pecatonica: The junior went 7-for-8 and had six RBIs in the Pecatonica baseball tournament May 1. Gilbertson is a major reason why the Vikings are 7-5 and 2-0 in the Six Rivers East.

Area Girls

Aly Pierce, Juda: The junior went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Panthers to a 12-1 six-inning win over Albany April 26.

Katie Viney, Sugar River: Viney scored two goals in an 8-0 win over Wisconsin Heights April 26. Viney scored the Raiders' only goals as Sugar River recorded its second straight shutout to beat Madison East 1-0 April 27.

Amanda Pickel, Brodhead: The freshman gave up just two runs on five hits and she had a key RBI double in helping the Cardinals beat Edgerton 4-2 April 27.
