The nominations for the Monroe Atheletes of the Week are:

Gail LaVoie: The senior had 17 saves as the Cheesemakers shutout Sugar River 1-0. With the win, Monroe improved to 4-2-1.

Luke Peterson: The sophomore won the 1,600-meter run and the 3,200 in a dual meet against Monona Grove. Peterson's performance helped the Cheesemakers defeat the Silver Eagles in a dual meet April 20.

Patrick Gellings and Garrett Tschanz: The Cheesemakers' No. 1 doubles team defeated Oregon's Jake Torpy and Jackson Smith 6-1, 6-1 as Monroe beat Oregon in a dual match 4-3. The Cheesemakers are off to a 4-1 start and 1-0 in the Badger South).

Area Boys

Tannar Johnson, Pecatonica: The junior went 2-for-4 with a game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning to beat Monticello 5-4 April 19. Johnson pitched a complete game and gave up just three earned runs. Johnson pitched a complete game three-hit complete game to help the Vikings beat Albany 3-2.

Michael Walker, Black Hawk: The sophomore pitched a complete game and struck out 13 to lead the Warriors to a 3-1 win over Albany April 19.

Wyatt Massey, Pecatonica: The sophomore won the 800-meter run with a time of 2 minutes, 5.57 seconds and he won the 1,600 (5:00) in a conference meet at River Ridge.

Area Girls

Erika Stampfli, Brodhead: The junior pitched four innings and struck out eight as she combined to throw a no-hitter with Amanda Pickel in Brodhead's 12-0, five-inning win over Palmyra-Eagle April 22. Stampfli also tossed a three-hit complete game and struck out six in an 11-1 win over Evansville April 20.

Kelsey Bartels, Argyle: The junior went 2-for-2 at the plate and struck out six as she pitched the Orioles to a 7-4 win over Shullsburg-Benton April 19.

Emily Hastings, Darlington: Hastings went 4-for-4 with five RBIs in a 10-5 win over Black Hawk April 22.
