Michael Barrett had 24 points and 10 rebounds in a 58-49 win over Milwaukee Custer on Dec. 29.

Ashley Hermanson scored 16 points in a victory against Northland Pines, 65-43, on Dec. 28. On Dec. 29, Hermanson again scored 16 points, this time in a 66-32 win over Eau Claire Memorial.

Nick Walker, a heavyweight wrestling in only his second season, finished eighth at the annual Bi-State Classic in La Crosse, Dec. 28-29.

Area Boys

J.J. Panoske scored 33 points in the final three quarters to lead Brodhead to a 59-50 win over Albany on Dec. 29

Boomer Detra scored 18 points to lead the Comets.

Brandon Heins (215 pounds) won one of six individual titles for Darlington at the Evansville Holiday wrestling meet.

Area Girls

Black Hawk senior Kim Wellnitz scored the game winning basket and had a game-high 19 points with seven rebounds in a 58-56 win over Waukesha Catholic Memorial at the WBCA Classic on Dec. 29.

Courtney Pfeuti scored a game-high 23 points Monday night to lead the Comets to a 60-27 win over Benton on Dec. 28.

Juda senior Heather Boeke scored a game-high 15 points to lead the Panthers to a 51-30 win over Johnson Creek on Dec. 30. She also had nine points in a Williams Bay in the first round of the Palmyra-Eagle Tournament on Dec. 29, 54-47. Juda won the tournament.
