VOLLEYBALL: Brugger leads Comets past Monticello in four

ALBANY - In a tight Six Rivers East contest Tuesday, Albany prevailed over Monticello in four sets, 25-16, 17-25, 25-23, 26-24.

Devan Brugger had 11 kills for Albany (7-5 overall, 3-2 Six Rivers). Sydney Bump had three aces and three blocks, Courtney Pfeuti had 18 assists, and libero Clare Koompans had 27 digs.

For Monticello (2-3 conference), Sarah Silver had eight kills and 10 blocks.

In other games Tuesday:

BRODHEAD 3, BELOIT TURNER 0

At Beloit, the Cardinals went on the road and swept Beloit Turner (0-2 in Rock Valley conference) out of their own building, 25-11, 25-8, 25-11.

Courtney Mielke had 12 kills and 10 digs. Kristen Ruchti had 11 kills, four aces, and three blocks for the Cardinals. Cassie Wymer had 26 assists and Jordan Riese added seven digs for Brodhead (2-0 in Rock Valley).

BARNEVELD 3, JUDA 0

At Juda, Barneveld blanked the Panthers in three sets, 25-18, 25-21, 25-23.

McKenzie Swaag had six digs and 10 assists for Juda (2-8, 0-4). Teammates Heather Boeke and Veronica Bartels each had six kills.

RIVERDALE 3, DARLINGTON 0

The Redbirds couldn't contain the Chieftains Monday in volleyball action, losing 3-0. Game scores were not available.

Paige Champion and Courtney McBee both collected three kills for Darlington.

The Redbirds host Mineral Point on Thursday.
