STOUGHTON - The Monroe soccer team dropped a conference game to Stoughton Thursday night, 4-1.
The Cheesemakers picked up their goal right off the bat. Maddie Knutson scored an unassisted goal at the 3 minute, 28 second mark for Monroe. Stoughton tied the game up later in the first half, but scored three goals in the second half to lock up the win.
"We were coming off two hard games this week against Sugar River and Edgewood," said Monroe coach Miriam O'Neill. "We were without three starters, so that definitely impacted the team. Gabby Ludwig was out, so we were missing our top scorer. That was a blow. We were also missing Kathryn Anderson and Megan Olson."
Monroe (1-5-1 overall, 1-2-1 Badger South) next takes on Fort Atkinson on Tuesday. O'Neill said the key for her team is just to get everyone to come together in the same game.
"I think it's a question of having everyone on top of their game on the same night. I think that could happen against Fort Atkinson," she said.
