Vikings trample Warriors

SOUTH WAYNE - With the Black Hawk boys basketball team saddled with foul trouble in the second half, Pecatonica ran away with a 67-37 win over the Warriors Saturday.

Pecatonica (5-4, 2-1 Six Rivers East, led by just four points, 21-17 at halftime. The Vikings outscored the Warriors 46-20 in the second half.

"The first four minutes of the third quarter was the game," Black Hawk coach Kyle Bille said. "We put ourselves into foul trouble. It was a matter of getting in good position. We got caught up in some screens."

When the Warriors went to a press, the Vikings scored some easy baskets in transition. The Vikings reached the bonus 3 minutes, 50 seconds into the third quarter. Pecatonica enjoyed a big free throw disparity as the Vikings made 20 of 30 free throws and the warriors made 3 of 9.

"That was huge," Bille said.

Pecatonica senior Jeremy Meudt scored a game-high 20 points to lead the Vikings. Fellow seniors Devin Jeglum and Jason Meudt each scored 12 points as the Vikings won their second straight game.

Black Hawk was led by Michael Walker who scored a team-high 10 points. Seniors T.J. Adams and Cody Foster each scored eight points.

Black Hawk (3-5, 0-3) hosts Argyle Tuesday.
