ALBANY - Junior Michelle Francois made two free throws in the final seconds to lift the Pecatonica Vikings to a 49-48 win over the Albany Comets in a Six Rivers East Conference game Tuesday.

Pecatonica's 11-6 lead at the end of the first quarter was the largest lead for either team. Albany held a 40-36 lead in the fourth quarter and led 48-47 with 28 seconds remaining, and had possession of the ball.

But the Comets (1-10, 0-5 Six Rivers East) turned the ball over and Francois was fouled, sending her to the free throw line in the double bonus. She delivered the game-winning foul shots for Pecatonica (2-9, 1-3).

Francois led the Vikings with 15 points and junior Emma Marion added 14.

Junior Cassidy Bump was the leading scorer for Albany with 13 points and junior Julia Farley added 12.

"We are taking some steps in the right direction," Albany coach Bryce Pickett said. "The 48 points for us was a season high. We're playing much better defense at times and we're communicating."
