MONROE - With the start of a new school year, the Monroe Cheesemakers may be glad to see the month of August come to an end.
The Cheesemakers concluded a winless month with a loss to Stoughton, 25-22, 25-16, 25-18 in a Badger South Conference volleyball match Tuesday. The loss drops the Cheesemakers to 0-7 overall and 0-2 in the Badger South.
Monroe's Jaclyn Ditter had a hand in just about everything the Cheesemakers did against the Vikings. The senior had four kills, two blocks, two aces and eight digs. Senior Sarah Kloepping had four kills, sophomore Becca Armstrong added two blocks and senior Abby Jacobson provided seven assists.
"The players are playing much better than the scores reflect," said Monroe head coach Dave Gersbach. "They've played with a lot of heart and determination. We've started to jell as a team and I'm confident we will only improve from here."
Monroe's next match is Thursday at Milton.
