Vikings rout Ponies

BLANCHARDVILLE - Pecatonica senior Dakota Conwell had a solid pitching performance as the Vikings capitalized on Monticello's six errors en route to an 18-1 five-inning win over the Ponies on Monday.

Conwell pitched three innings and gave up just one run on two hits to get the win. He struck out three and walked one.

In addition to the six errors, the Ponies had two pitchers combine to walk six.

"It gave us some opportunities with more runners," Pecatonica coach Jim Strommen said of the errors and walks. "We were able to take advantage of those opportunities."

With the win, Pecatonica improves to 10-0, 6-0 Six Rivers East.

Pecatonica sophomore Colton Schraepfer went 2-for-2 with two RBI and senior A.J. Hendrickson was 2-for-2 with one RBI.

Pecatonica seniors Jake Dearth and Logan Green each pitched one shutout inning in relief.

Monticello freshman Tradyen Foster pitched 22⁄3 innings and gave up 13 runs on six hits. He struck out one and walked two. Senior Trenton Ryan pitched 11⁄3 innings in relief and gave up five runs on two hits and walked four.

In the Vikings' 11-run third, senior Cory Linder had an RBI single and Schraepfer had a two-run single. Sophomore Carter Ruegsegger also had a key RBI single.

With the win, the Vikings stay in the driver's seat to repeat as conference champions.

"You want to perform well in every game you play," Strommen said. "The conference games are a little more significant."



Barneveld 6, Argyle 1

ARGYLE - Barneveld's Jacob Slaney tossed a three-hitter to lead the Golden Eagles to a win over Argyle on Monday.

Slaney struck out 14 and walked just two. Argyle freshman Gavin Johnson went 2-for-2 with one RBI.

Barneveld's Matthew Fahey went 2-for-4 with two runs scored to lead the Eagles. Argyle senior Cam Treuthardt pitched 42⁄3 innings and gave up five earned runs on four hits. He struck out five and walked four. Argyle sophomore Mitch Flannery tossed 11⁄3 innings in relief and struck out two. Johnson pitched one inning and gave up one run on two hits.
