Vikings get past Knights

HOLLANDALE - The Vikings broke open a close game with four runs each in the third and fourth innings to capture a 13-7 win over the Glarner Knights in non-conference play at Hollandale, Thursday.

Junior Tannar Johnson went 3-for-3 and picked up the win in relief with four shutout innings for Pecatonica.

Senior Devin Jeglum went 3-for-4 while sophomores Wyatt Massey and Tanner Kleppe added extra base hits with a triple and a double, respectively, for the Vikings.

Senior Ryan Bright took the loss for New Glarus, going three innings and giving up eight runs on 10 hits. Juniors Brendan Pittman and Kirbe French each collected a pair of hits for the Glarner Knights. Both teams have non-conference games coming up. New Glarus (0-1) will host Albany today, while Pecatonica (1-2) travels to Highland, Saturday.

River Ridge 11, Darlington 1

DARLINGTON - The Timbervolves avenged a 3-2 loss to the Redbirds last season with an 11-1 non-conference win over Darlington, Thursday. River Ridge improved to 1-1 with the win while the Rebirds suffered their first loss of the season. Darlington (1-1) will host Cuba City in SWAL Conference action today.
