Vikings crush Albany

ALBANY - Pecatonica junior Kyle Kleppe went 3-for-5 and had six RBI to lead the Vikings to a 16-0 win over Albany in five innings Monday.

Pecatonica (15-1, 13-1 Six Rivers East) had a five-run second inning and a six-run third to break open an 11-0 lead.

"They were hitting line drives all over the ballpark and put a lot of pressure on our defense," Albany coach Mitch Heinenmeyer said. "They just took it to us."

Pecatonica junior Brooks Chandler went 4-for-5 with two RBI. Pecatonica junior Riley Gould pitched a complete game five-hit shutout. Gould struck out seven and walked three.

Albany senior Joey McNaught and sophomore Brock Gilkes each went 1-for-3. The Comets 6-9 Six Rivers East) left five runners on base.

"We hit the ball pretty good," Heinenmeyer said. "We had chances to score runs. We didn't have enough hits to keep us in the game."

McNaught pitched three innings and gave up 11 runs - nine earned runs on eight hits. He struck out two and walked seven. Albany senior Clinton Sullivan pitched two innings in relief and gave up five runs on five hits and walked four.

Albany will host Argyle today.

"Our guys are ready to let that one go and start a new one," Heinenmeyer said.



Argyle 15, Black Hawk 2

ARGYLE - Cam Treuthardt went 3-for-4 to power Argyle to a 15-2 win over Black hawk Monday.

Treuthardt hit two doubles and was key in the Orioles' 11-hit attack. Argyle jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning. The Orioles also posted a six-run fourth. Argyle senior Kyle Olson and sophomore Collin Argue were each 2-for-3.

Black Hawk freshman Brody Milz went 3-for-3 to lead the Warriors.

Argyle junior Riley Ostby pitched five innings to earn the win. He gave up one earned run on four hits. Ostby struck out five and walked four.
