BLANCHARDVILLE - After being held scoreless in the first quarter, the Pecatonica girls basketball team had an uphill battle for the remainder of their non-conference game against the Wisconsin Heights Vanguards. The deficit proved to be too much for the Vikings, as they lost 57-34 .

The visiting Vanguards held Pecatonica in check for most of the first half, but by the end of the first quarter, Wisconsin Heights had already raced out to a 15-0 lead. By halftime Pecatonica trailed by 21 points.

"We didn't start well," Pecatonica coach Scott Carlson said.

"They (Wisconsin Heights) didn't pressure us at the start, and we became impatient which lead to us forcing some things."

The Vikings were outscored by eight points throughout the remainder of the game and were unable to find an answer for the Vanguards' offensive outpour.

Emily Scoville had 10 points for Vikings, who are still in search of their first win of the season. Pecatonica will face off against conference foe Juda next Monday, Jan. 6.
