VERONA - If it weren't for some good local cooking, Monroe's U19 Rebel soccer club may have come up gold at the recent 2008 Badger State Games.
A Madison club handed Monroe's team its only loss of the event, 2-1, on Saturday at Reddan Park. The Monroe squad defeated Marshfield, 2-0, Baraboo, 2-1, and Oregon, 2-0. The victory over Oregon secured the bronze medal.
Many of Monroe's players were in their last year of youth soccer tourney eligibility. The team constisted of Connor Lind, Tony Henke, Kyle Klopfenstein, Bill Hubbard, Dylan Boehme, Nick Hendrickson, Nate Barta, Matt Farrar, Bill Farrar, Ben Knaus, Kyle Frint, Justin Rhoe, Justin Griffin, Tim Gellings and Dan Lehman.
