U14 girls Avalanche tie, drop one to Wolves

MONROE - The Avalanche PeeWee A hosted the Oregon Panthers PeeWee A and skated to a 5-2 win Saturday.

On a pass from Alyssa Knauf, Cade Janecke opened the scoring of the game 48 seconds into the first period. Anika Einbeck scored a goal midway through the first, giving the Avalanche a 2-0 lead.

It was an eventful second period as the Avalanche put up two more goals. The first goal came from Payton Stauffacher on an assist by Cade Janecke. Cade Janecke scored the second goal on an assist by Tessa Janecke. The Panthers got two on the board.

In the third period, Tessa Janecke lit the lamp on an assist from Einbeck.

Goalie Heath Bear recorded 26 saves.



PeeWee A

The Avalanche PeeWee A hosted Sun Prairie PeeWee A on Sunday. In a fast paced game, the Avalanche defeated Sun Prairie 6-3.

Scoring goals for the Avalanche were Hayden Roth (two goals), Tessa Janecke (two goals), Cade Janecke and Payton Stauffacher. Earning assists were Anika Einbeck (two), Payton Stauffacher, Haley Knauf, Hayden Roth and Tessa Janecke.

Goalie Heath Bear recorded 24 saves.

The Avalanche PeeWee A team improves their record to 30-4-1.



PeeWee B

On Saturday, the Avalanche PeeWee B team hosted Oregon B and skated to a 3-3 tie.

Oregon struck first as Monroe was unable to diffuse a net front scramble, but the Avalanche's persistence would level the first period as Ruger Hansen scored with assists from Rebekah Rath and Blaze Janecke. The second period saw Oregon reclaim its lead only to be tied again by an unassisted goal from Brady Smith. Seven minutes later, Janecke scored a goal on an assist by Rath to put Monroe ahead for the first time.

In spite of steady pressure, the Avalanche couldn't capitalize on third-period opportunities with the only goal coming from an Oregon penalty shot. Goaltender Aiden Runkle recorded 20 saves.

U14 Girls Season Ends

The Avalanche U14 girls hockey team played three games last weekend, finishing up their 2014-15 season. On Saturday, they hosted the WC Wolves U14 for two games. The Wolves took the first game 5-2 from the Avalanche.

Anika Einbeck scored both Avalanche goals with assists from Cammi Ganshert, Tessa Janecke (two) and Alyssa Knauf. Goalie Ally Esch recorded 20 saves.

In the second game against the Wolves, the Avalanche came out strong and tied the Wolves 5-5. Haley Knauf scored a goal on an assist by Einbeck. The Wolves responded with four goals, ending the first period with a 4-1 lead. The Avalanche came out strong in the second period with goals by Alyssa Knauf on an assist by Janecke and Janecke added a goal.

The Avalanche responded with two more goals. Einbeck scored a goal on a pass by Knauf. Janecke then scored her third goal for the hat trick. The Avalanche outshot the Wolves 29-24.

On Sunday, the U14 girls were defeated in the last game of the season 4-0 by the Ice Spirit U14 girls. The Avalanche outshot the Ice Spirit 40-12.
