MONROE - The U12 Rebel Mystics Girls capped off their spring season with three wins this weekend, bringing their record to 10-2.
On Saturday, June 8, the girls traveled to Sun Prairie and earned a 10-0 shutout. First half goals were scored by Taylor Adkins (2) and Emily Benzschawel with attempts by Cassie Gersbach, Megan Benzschawel, Heather Burkhalter and Lauren Hlubeck. Anna Latimer made one save as goalie. Second half goals were scored by Latimer, Megan Benzschawel, Gersbach, Emily Benzschawel and Hlubeck. Goalkeeper Alexa Bader made one save. Defense by Burkhalter, Adkins and Allie Fish helped earn the shutout.
The girls then came back to Monroe and played McFarland, earning a 4-3 victory. Megan Benzschawel scored two goals the first half and Taylor Adkins had one. Goalkeeper Latimer made four saves. In the second half, Gersbach scored assisted by Burkhalter, and Latimer made six saves.
On Sunday, June 9, Monroe took on New Glarus and won 5-1. In the first half, Adkins scored on a penalty kick and later followed up with another goal. Gersbach scored to end the first half 3-0. Latimer earned three saves in goal. In the second half, Hlubeck had a goal assisted by Emily Benzschawel, who scored the final goal to seal the win. Megan Benzschawel had one save as goalie, followed by four saves from Latimer. Defense by Fish, Burkhalter, Bader and Grace Keith propelled the Mystics to victory. The Rebel Mystics are coached by Derrick Fish and Michelle Benzschawel.
