U-11 Rebels score win, tie over season opening weekend

MONROE - The U-11 Rebel Mustangs opened their spring season this weekend with two away games.

On Saturday, the Mustangs traveled to Oregon and earned a 7-1 victory. Goalies for the first half were Emily Benzshawel with 4 saves and Ally Einbeck with three saves. Attempts on goal were made by Kennedy Ludwig and Heather Burkhalter.

Three goals were scored in the first half by Monroe - the first by Olivia Werth, assisted by Kennedy. The second goal was scored by Olivia and the third by Emily, assisted by Heather. In the second half, Ally earned two more saves in goal followed by Anna Latimer with one save.

Goals were made by Olivia off of a corner kick from Heather, a goal by Emily Benzshawel and two by Ally Einbeck - the final one assisted by Aspen Bader. Attempts on goal were made by Dani Larraga, Emily Benzshawel, Sydney Mathiason, and Heather.

On Sunday the Mustangs traveled to Madison to take on the Strikers and came away with a 1-1 tie.

The Madison strikers scored their goal in the first half. Goalie Ally Einbeck earned one save and attempts on goal were made by Olivia, Samantha, and Anna.

In the second half, Anna took over goalkeeper duties but saw very little action as great offense and defense by the Mustangs kept the ball on the offensive side of the field.

Attempts on goal were made by Olivia Werth and Emily Benzshawel with the goal scored by Emily Benzshawel, assisted by Ally Einbeck.
