MONROE - The U-11 Rebel Mustang girls ended a stellar season and a 12 game winning streak with two wins last weekend to end their spring season undefeated. The Mustangs played a well fought game on Saturday against Oregon and earned a 2-1 victory.
The first goal of the game was scored by Heather Burkhalter followed by a goal by Oregon to tie it up. Morgan Seffrood played goalie the first half and had one save.
The second goal for the Mustangs was scored by Emily Benzschawel. The second half excellent defense by Samantha Ellefson, Kennedy Ludwig, Aspen Bader and Sydney Mathiason preserved the win. Benzschawel earned two saves at goalie.
On Sunday, the girls traveled to Stoughton and won 10-1 to end the spring season undefeated. The first half goalie was Seffrood with four saves. The Rebels scored four goals the first half. The first goal was scored by Burkhalter on an assist by Olivia Werth. Then Werth scored a goal on an assist from Burkhalter. Werth scored her second goal followed by a goal from Mathiason assisted by Ludwig.
Werth had two saves in the second half as goalie and Ally Einbeck had one save. The Rebels scored six more goals in the second including two by Seffrood.
Anna Latimer scored two goals. The other goals were scored by Mathiason and Dani Larraga. In the last five seconds of the game, Stoughton scored on a breakaway.
Aggressive play by Alexa Bader and Ellefson also helped earn the victory. The Rebels celebrated their win and unbeaten season by presenting their coaches Troy and Janel Bader with a photo book and going to out for ice cream.
