MONROE - The U-10 Rebel Mustangs kicked off the start of their fall season with a 9-1 victory over Mount Horeb Saturday, Sept. 11.
Emily Benzschawel started off as goalkeeper and earned two saves. Megan Benzschawel followed and had three saves. Attempts on goal the first half were made by Anika Einbeck, Alexa Bader, Heather Burkhalter, and Emily Benzschawel. The Rebels scored two goals the first half one by Heather Burkhalter and one by Emily Benzschawel.
The second half started off with the lone goal by Mount Horeb, but then the Mustangs really came alive with seven goals in a row. Burkhalter had three more goals, one assisted by Einbeck. Emily Benzschawel had two more goals one assisted by Megan Benzschawel.
Einbeck scored a goal, which was assisted by Cassi Gersbach, and Bader had one goal. Karlye Mazahreh-Disch was goalkeeper the second half and earned three saves. Goals were scored by Emily Benzschawel, Burkhalter and Bader. Excellent defense was played by Kayleigh Nesbitt and offense by Maggie Curtis helped to seal the win.
