U-10 Rebel Mustangs split two games

MONROE - The U-10 Rebel Mustangs finished off their fall season with two games last weekend. The Rebels hosted Stoughton on Saturday and won 8-3.

They traveled to Belleville on Sunday and lost 4-1.

On a very rainy Saturday against Stoughton, Cassi Gersbach was goalkeeper for the first half and had four saves. Alexa Bader scored the first goal, assisted by Emily Benzschawel. Heather Burkhalter scored the second goal, followed by another goal from Bader and another goal from Burkhalter to end the half, 4-0.

In second half play, Megan Benzschawel had five saves as goalie. Stoughton scored all three of their goals in the second half. Goals for the Rebels were scored by Gersbach, assisted by Anika Einbeck and Gersbach, assisted by Bader. Burkhalter scored a third goal and Bader also scored her third goal to lead the Rebels.

The Rebels received strong defensive play from Karlye Mazareh-Disch, Maggie Curtis, and Kayleigh Nesbitt to help seal the win.

On Sunday, the Rebels traveled to Belleville for their final game of the season. Megan Benzschwel was goalkeeper the first half and had four saves. Belleville scored twice in the first half. In the second half, Emily Benzschawel had four saves and Cassi Gersbach scored the lone goal for the Rebels - with two more goals added by Belleville to end the game 4-1.

The Mustangs are coached by Troy and Janel Bader.
