MONTICELLO - A stellar effort in the circle and a timely contribution from a new starter powered the Argyle softball team to a 10-4 victory against Monticello in Six Rivers East play Tuesday night.

Sophomore Jessica Treuthardt pitched a complete-game four-hitter for the Orioles, who supported their ace with 14 hits.

None was bigger than Hannah Saalsaa's three-run home run in the fifth inning, the blast pushing the Orioles' lead to 6-0.

"When that three-run homer went, you could just see the wind go out of our sails," Monticello coach Duane Garrison said.

Saalsaa started at third base in place of Katie Dammen, who recently suffered a broken leg in a game last week. She finished with five RBIs total.

"She caught everything hit at her," Garrison said of Saalsaa. "She had seven putouts at third base to go along with the three-run homer. She had a pretty good game."

Junior Kayla Ostby, junior Kim Pink, senior Frida Cuevas, freshman Jenna Langmeier and Saalsaa, a sophomore, each had two hits for the Orioles.

Treuthardt issued three walks and had two strikeouts and didn't allow a run until the sixth inning. Monticello (6-2, 1-1 Six Rivers East) scored three times in the seventh.

Freshman Courtney Leuzinger went 2-for-3 with a solo home run for the Ponies.

Juda-Albany 14, Pecatonica 1

BLANCHARDVILLE - Albany-Juda scored 12 runs over the final three innings and senior Amber Ramos limited the Vikings to three hits in Six Rivers East play. Senior C.J. Dunwiddie went 3-for-5 with two doubles, junior Jessica Rackow was 4-for-5 and junior Kirstie Kauk was 2-for-3 with double as the Panthers racked up 16 hits.

The Vikings (4-4, 1-1 Six Rivers East) gave up four unearned runs in the fifth and the Panthers (5-5, 2-0) scored three in the sixth and five in the seventh.

"We hung with them," Pecatonica coach Chuck Meyer said. "We have to work at keeping our composure to stay competitive no matter what. You can't take anything away from Juda-Albany. I just wish no matter what the score, we stay competitive in games."

Ramos struck out nine and walked two. Senior Katie Sather and freshman Molly Hendrickson each doubled for two of the Vikings' three hits.

Barneveld 9, Black Hawk 3

BARNEVELD - Barneveld pitchers Tayler Bowser and Madison Laube combined to strike out 14 batters.

The Eagles took a 7-0 lead after scoring five runs in the second inning and took advantage of three Black Hawk errors. The Warriors fell to 0-3 in the Six Rivers East.

Brodhead 3, Jefferson 0

JEFFERSON - The Cardinals posted their sixth straight win and their third straight shutout in the Rock Valley South Conference affair. With the win, the Cardinals improved to 10-2 overall and remained tied for first place with Beloit Turner (8-0).

Benton-Shulls. 9, Darlington 4

DARLINGTON - The Redbirds tallied single runs in the second, third, and fifth innings and were six outs away from their first win of the season. But Benton-Shullsburg struck for five runs in the sixth and four more runs in the seventh to send Darlington to their ninth straight loss to start the season. The Redbirds came up with 10 hits, with five going for extra bases, including triples by junior Brianna King (2-for-3) and junior Jacke Johnson (2-for-4).

Luther Prep 16, New Glarus 0

WATERTOWN - The Phoenix scored in every inning, including seven runs in the fourth, en route to the five-inning non-conference win. The Glarner Knights (1-5, 0-1 Capitol South) were outhit 13-1 as Watertown Luther Prep sophomore Jenna Hering hit a pair of home runs.
