MONTICELLO - The Juda Panthers did just about everything right in their 6-2 baseball win Thursday over Monticello.

Starting pitcher Beau Benner pitched a complete game, striking out seven hitters while allowing just four hits and a walk for the win. Behind him, Juda made all the plays and didn't commit an error.

"This was a total team effort tonight," Juda coach Kyle Krueger said.

Brandon Holz started for Monticello, but was tagged for six runs -three earned - in six innings. Tyler Ritschard pitched a scoreless seventh for the Ponies.

Juda scored right away in the first inning and added a second run in the third.

Monticello tied the score with two runs in the bottom of the fifth, potentially swinging the momentum.

"We had an error right away," Ponies coach Jason Pinnow said. "Errors cost us. Every error led to a run."

Monticello (2-3, 1-2 Six Rivers East) committed four errors, the last allowing one final devastating blow off the bat of Christian Melton. His home run capped a four-run sixth inning for Juda.

"That was the icing on the cake. We couldn't get anything going after that," Pinnow said.

Krueger was pleased with his team's attitude throughout the game.

"We had a lot more energy tonight than we have had earlier in the season, and it showed by how much fun the guys had playing," Krueger said. "If we keep up that attitude, we can play with anyone."
