LENA - Senior Alex Tordoff knocked down six 3-pointers and scored a game-high 31 points to power the Monroe High School boys basketball team to a 75-44 nonconference win over Lena-Winslow on Tuesday.

"He had the best game of his life," Monroe coach Brian Bassett said.

Since the game was played in Lena, it featured four quarters instead of two halves like prep games in Wisconsin.

Tordoff hit three 3-pointers to start the third quarter.

"He was really hot," Bassett said.

Monroe (7-7) outscored Lena-Winslow 35-17 in the second half.

Monroe junior Brayden Zettle added 12 points.

Senior Jake Kind scored five points in his first game of the season after recovering from a broken tibia.

"It was nice to have him back on the floor," Bassett said.

Monroe senior Carter Sawdey left the game after twisting his ankle jumping on the opening tip and didn't return.

Bassett was encouraged by the Cheesemakers' defensive performance after a 79-65 loss to Mount Horeb on Saturday.

"We played better," he said. "We were better on our close-outs and every facet of our defense."

New Glarus 79, Pecatonica 73

BLANCHARDVILLE - Junior Cullen Brooks scored a team-high 32 points to propel the Glarner Knights to a nonconference win over Pecatonica.

Pecatonica (12-4) led by four points at the half, 45-41. The Knights outscored the Vikings 38-28 in the second half.

New Glarus sophomore point guard Jaden Kreklow scored 25 points, including five 3-pointers.

Pecatonica coach Matt Fink said the difference in the game was New Glarus' ability to break down the Vikings off the dribble.

Brooks proved to be a playmaker down low.

"We had a hard time stopping him (Brooks) once he caught the ball with his back to the basket," Fink said.

Pecatonica senior A.J. Hendrickson scored a game-high 35 points. Sophomore Colten Schraepfer added 13 points, and Evan Prust chipped in eight points and hit two of the Vikings' eight 3-pointers.

"We played a little short-handed tonight," Fink said. "We had some younger kids step up and play bigger roles."

Pecatonica seniors Logan Green (shoulder) and Kole Kent (knee) both missed the game due to injury.

"Logan will be back in one to two weeks," Fink said. "We don't know when or if Kole is going to be available."
