Three Monroe swimming relays medal

JANESVILLE - The Monroe girls swimming team had three relays medal at the Janesville Parker Invitational Saturday, Sept. 7.

The Cheese-makers' 200-yard freestyle relay team of Amanda Putz, Angie Beaver, Monica Sefcik and Grace Moehn finished fifth place with a time of 2 minutes, 1.20 seconds. The 200 freestyle relay was seeded ninth and swam to fifth.

"That takes giving it your all in the water," Monroe coach Linda Moser said. "I am very proud of all of them."

Baraboo won the invite 130-114 over Lake Geneva Badger. The Cheesemakers had just 12 swimmers compete due to conflicts and illness.

The other relays that medaled for the Cheesemakers include the 300 backstroke relay (sixth place) and the 400 freestyle relay (sixth place). The 300 backstroke relay team of Skylar Lassen, Mackenzie Hesgard, Haley Kaiser and Beaver. Moehn and Hesgard teamed with Putz and Beaver to finish with a time of 4:31.92 in the 400 freestyle relay.

"Once again the girls were put in events so we can see what we have to work with for the rest of the season," Moser said.
