Sugar River tops Platteville

BELLEVILLE - The Sugar River girls soccer team exploded on offense and rolled to a 10-0 non-conference win over Platteville-Lancaster Monday.

The Raiders had four players score two goals including sophomore Vanessa Narveson, senior Sierra Watrud, sophomore Brooke Larson and junior Hannah Donlin. With the win, Sugar River improves to 5-0, 1-0 Capitol Conference.

Narveson scored the first goal on a pass from Nicole Sanders at 13 minutes, 28 seconds. Watrud scored a goal on a second assist from Sanders at 20:28 to give the Raiders a 2-0 lead. Donlin then scored her first goal on an assist from Watrud at 29:42 and about 3 minutes later, Watrud scored her second goal to give the Raiders a 4-0 lead. Donlin scored her second goal at 37:112 on a pass from Taylor Legler to give the Raiders a 5-0 lead at the half.

Both Narveson and Larson scored goals in the first 14 minutes of the second half to give the Raiders an insurmountable 7-0 lead. Legler, who finished with one goal and two assists, scored a goal on an assist from Narveson at 69:04 followed with a goal by Larson 21 seconds later. Breanne Kreklow capped the scoring with the final goal on a pass from Legler at 69:25. The game was cut short due to the mercy rule.
