Sugar River stops Marshall

BELLEVILLE - The Sugar River wrestling team posted five pins to edge Marshall in a Capitol Conference dual 42-36 Thursday.

Sugar River's Jonah Thompson at heavyweight pinned Marshall's Parker Ellickson in 1 minute, 22 seconds. Tyler Varney at 145 pounds pinned Marshall's Jarred Gillett in 49 seconds, and Hayden Latsch (152) pinned Jakob Lewis in 3:56.

At 160, Sugar River's Kyle Sparr pinned Marshall's Owen Bailey in 1:05, and teammate Daniel Enloe (220) pinned Marshall's Randy Lahmann in 1:49.

Max Gerner (120) and John Chenoweth (126) won via forfeits by the Cardinals.



Black Hawk-Darlington 39, Iowa-Grant 36

LIVINGSTON - Black Hawk-Darlington got pins from Hunter Bredeson (120), Caleb Novak (145), Lance Ubersox (152) and Cody Nielsen (heavyweight).

Teammate Curtis Blosch (160) defeated Iowa-Grant's Travis Arndt 8-2. Two other Warrior-Redbird wrestlers, Connor Novak (126) and Karl Seffrood (220), picked up wins by forfeit. Black Hawk-Darlington forfeited at 106, 113 and 132.
