Sugar River shuts down Poynette-Portage

BELLEVILLE - The Sugar River girls soccer team remained unbeaten with a 7-0 win over Poynette-Portage on Thursday.

Sugar River sophomore Vanessa Narveson scored two goals to lead the Raiders. Sugar River (7-0, 2-0 Capitol Conference) has given up just one goal this season and pitched their sixth shutout this year.

The Raiders dominated the game, out-shooting Poynette-Portage 22-2. Sugar River goalkeeper Paige Natzke had two saves.

Narveson scored her first goal at 1 minute, 25 seconds on an assist from Jackie Burgess. Junior Ja-ae Borth scored a goal on a pass from sophomore Taylor Legler to give the Raiders a 2-0 lead. Legler had two assists. Junior Hannah Donlin scored a goal on an assist from senior Sierra Watrud at 20:05. Junior Jamie Ott scored about 6 minutes later to give the Raiders a 4-0 lead at the half.

Sugar River sophomore Nicole Sanders scored a goal at 48:06 and junior Baily Hubbard scored a goal at 75:23 to give the Raiders a insurmountable 6-0 lead. Narveson scored the final goal on a pass from senior Mandi Sargent.
