Sugar River girls, boys sweep Cambridge

CAMBRIDGE - The Sugar River boys and girls track teams swept a dual meet at Cambridge on Tuesday, April 16.

The girls team defeated the Blue Jays 94-43, and the boys won 104.5 to 32.5.

In the girls 100-meter dash, Sugar River's Alexis Hanson took first with a time of 13.46 seconds. Hanson also scored points for her team by finishing second in the 200 meters (27.85 seconds) and second in the 400 meters (1:03.31).

Sugar River's Madeline Brunner also placed in two events. She placed first in the 800 meters with a time of 2:37 and took first in the 1600 with a time of 5:21.96.

In the 3,200-meter run, Brianne Roska came in first, with a time of 13:10.39.

Sugar River's Emily Diaz took first in the 100-meter hurdles, with a time of 17.99 seconds. Diaz also took first in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 54.02 seconds.

In the relays, Sugar River took first in the 4x100, with teammates Harley Hollis, Jessica Hutter, Sabrina Popenfus and Kati Way finishing in 57.06 seconds. Hutter, Popenfus, Way also joined with Ashley Clark to take first in the 4x200, with a time of 2:03.80. In the 4x800, Sugar River's Sam Barr, Morgan Yaun, O'Connor and Emily Denure finished first with a time of 11:30.81.

Clark also finished first in the pole vault, with a height of 7 feet, 6 inches. Hollis won the long jump, with a distance of 14 feet. In the shot put, Sugar River's Jamie Brown took first with a distance of 27 feet, 2 inches.

On the boys side, Sugar River's Garrison Woods took first in the 100-meter dash, with a time of 11.93 seconds. Justin Stadelman took first in the 200, with a time of 23.94, and Max Eggenberger won the 400 with a time of 55 seconds.

Sugar River's Alexander Yeiser finished first in the 800-meter run, with a time of 2:06.53. Yeiser also won the 1,600 with a time of 4:47.57. Teammate Tyler Gilbertson won the 3,200 with a time of 11:06.31. Sugar River's Kelvin Johnson won the 100-meter hurdles, with a time of 17.62 seconds, and he also took first in the 300-meter hurdles (41.95).

Sugar River took first in the 4x100 relay, with teammates Ethan Gassman, Mitchell DeLorme, Gabe Noyce and Stadelman finishing in 47.12 seconds. DeLorme and Gassman also teamed up with Colton Boley and Alex Gocht to take first in the 4x200 relay (1:40.98). Noyce, Johnson, Spencer Jones and Eggenberger took first in the 4x400, with a time of 3:45.48.

In the high jump, Woods finished first at a height of 6 feet. Woods also took top honors in the long jump (21 feet) and the triple jump (42 feet, 5 inches).

Sugar River's Craig Thompson took first in the shot put, with a distance of 41 feet, 10 inches.
