Sugar River boys, girls run to win

BELLEVILLE - The Sugar River boys and girls track and field teams both ran to triangular wins in a meet with Cambridge and Wisconsin Heights on Tuesday.

The Sugar River boys scored 84 points, followed by Wisconsin Heights (74) and Cambridge (70).

The Sugar River girls ran away with the top spot by rolling up 112 points, which was well ahead of runner-up Cambridge (88) and Wisconsin Heights (45).

For the boys, Sugar River's Cole Myers won the 110-meter high hurdles (16.75), and Dalton Fahey won the 400 (52.22). Myers and Fahey teamed with Christian Arnett and Kellan Zwiefel to win the 1,600 relay (3:40.47).

The Raiders' 3,200 relay team of Arnett, Kyle Fredrickson, Adam Nelson and Zwiefel won in 9:32.63. The Raiders' 400 relay team of Cade Martin, Jared Schulting, Eddie Fraire and Luke Judd also won (47.65).

In the girls meet, Sugar River senior Krista Diaz won the 100 hurdles (16.43) and the 300 hurdles (49.82). Senior Noelle Marie won the 800 (2:32.52) and the 1,600 (5:25.52). Sophomore Kiara Donnell won in the 100 (12.63) and the 200 (28.26).

Haiden Zimmerman won in the discus (88-3) and shot put (29-111⁄2).

Gabbie Whisler won the 3,200 (14:57.79).

Donnell teamed with Grace Schulting, Heidi Wegehaupt and Diaz to win the 800 relay (1:57.64). The Raiders' 400 relay team of Hallie Bartow, Jade Halvensleben, Erin Kittleson and Wegehaupt also won (56.94).

Halvensleben also won the long jump (15-6).
