MONROE - Senior Niven Tomasiewicz and junior Ryne Miller each scored two goals to power the Monroe High School boys soccer team to a comeback 5-2 win over Fort Atkinson on Tuesday.
Monroe (6-10-1, 1-5 Badger South) snapped a losing streak at six games.
The Cheesemakers trailed 2-0 at the half, but erupted for five second-half goals.
"We have been trying to fix the problems we have had," Monroe coach Tony Vasquez said. "We wanted to get out to an early lead and keep the pressure on. Tonight we had a slow start. In the second half, we got reenergized, and we played like we knew we could."
Miller scored his first goal on an assist from Silas Setterstrom at 48 minutes, 23 seconds. Tomasiewicz scored the game-tying goal on a pass from freshman Anthany Hernandez to tie the game at 2 at 52:10. Tomasiewicz scored the go-ahead goal on an assist from freshman Nick Schumacher at 54:23 to give the Cheesemakers a 3-2 lead.
Schumacher then scored an unassisted goal about 9 minutes later. Miller capped the scoring with a goal at 71:05.
"We just looked like a different team in the second half," Vasquez said. "They were not playing nervous or scared. They were confident."
