MONROE - Coming up with clutch hits and errors continue to plague the Monroe baseball team in a 14-3 loss to Stoughton Tuesday.
Monroe (1-14, 0-10 Badger South) committed four errors and managed just three hits off two Stoughton pitchers. Cheesemaker junior Jared Cline started and pitched three innings, giving up eight runs on 11 hits, with two strikeouts and two walks.
"Jared Cline came out throwing strikes and Stoughton put good swings on the ball," Monroe coach Eric Losenegger said. "They were dialed in tonight."
The Vikings scored in every inning en route to the victory. Monroe sophomore Jared Dillon pitched three innings, but all six runs he gave up were unearned. He struck out five and walked two.
Stoughton's Alec Tomczyk went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and Kadin Milbauer was also 3-for-4.
Monroe junior Max Lange went 1-for-2 and junior Jared Baumgartner was 1-for-3. Connor Foley had a pinch-hit single in the sixth.
"Everyone is pull happy right now," Losenegger said. "Tonight we put the ball in play, but we hit a lot of grounders. We need to look at taking the pitch away back up the middle or the other way. We have to come up with two-out hits and hits with runners in scoring position."
