JUDA - The seventh annual Six Rivers All-Star boys basketball game was one last time for the conference's top seniors to shine.

Benton's David Neis scored an All-Star record and game-high 27 points to lead the West to a 91-73 win over the East. The conference raised $1,000 for the American Family Children's Hospital. Black Hawk Principal and Athletic Director Jerry Mortimer said over the last six years the games have raised about $10,000.

"That is a credit to the communities in the Six Rivers," said Mortimer who started the All-Star game.

Neis, who will play basketball at Division II Clarke University, said he didn't know he was close to the single game scoring record.

"I'm just glad we won," he said. "I think the West hasn't won in a long time. It's a good cause. I'm glad to help people. People who can help should."

Monticello's Lukas Kolasch drilled a 3-pointer with 3 minutes, 47 seconds to go in the third quarter that sliced a 12-point deficit to 58-57. The West's Jacob Scott of Shullsburg ignited a 24-8 run when he hit a 3-pointer at the end of the third quarter to give the West a 66-60 lead.

River Ridge's Zach Raisbeck sparked the West in the fourth quarter hitting three 3-pointers during the spurt. Raisbeck buried a 3-pointer with 3:40 to go to give the West an insurmountable 81-68 lead.

Early on, the game had the makings of one that would come down to the wire. There were nine lead changes in a back-and-forth second quarter. Barneveld's Sawyer Lee and Sam Nechkash helped keep the East within striking distance in the first half. Lee had 14 of his team-high 17 points in the first half and hit two 3-pointers. Nechkash scored 17 points and had 12 rebounds.

Lee scored on a layup midway through the second quarter to cut the West's lead to 36-32. Neis scored on a layup on the break with 1:26 to go in the second quarter to give the West a 44-42 lead. The West led 48-44 at the half.

Benton's Mitchell Brant, who scored 21 points, knocked down two 3-pointers to start the third quarter to give the West a 54-44 lead. The East stormed back. Juda's Brandon Bauman came up with a steal and scored on a layup with 4:40 left in the third quarter to trim the West's lead to 58-52. Kolasch's 3 sliced the West's lead to 58-57, but that was as close as they would get.

Juda's Joey Jordan, who will triple jump at Viterbo University next year, scored 14 points and had seven rebounds. Bauman had 10 points and eight rebounds.

"It's fun to come back and play with the guys you have competed against your whole life," Jordan said.
