MCFARLAND - The Monroe swimming team swam in a meter pool for the first time this season and lost a dual meet to McFarland 106-64 Tuesday.
"We swam well against a very strong team. McFarland has a lot of depth and we never gave in," Monroe coach Linda Moser said.
Monroe senior Leanna Schwartzlow won the 100-meter breaststroke with a time of 1 minute, 22.54 seconds. Schwartzlow teamed with Rachel Root, Angie Beaver and Sarah Kind to win the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 2:00.62.
Root won the 100 butterfly in 1:09.32. The 200 medley relay team of Root, Kind, Schwartzlow and Beaver finished second with a time of 2:14.98.
Jessica Moehn took third in both the 200 individual medley (2:54.42) and the 100 backstroke (1:19.82). Cat Weeden added a third-place finish in the 400 freestyle (5:23.13) and Kind was third in the 50 freestyle (:31.52).
