MONROE - Monticello's boys basketball team had three Six Rivers East first-team all-conference selections, which led the league.
Junior guard Tyler Ritschard and seniors Tyler Meier and Jacob Marty were the three Ponies named to the list. Senior Corey McGowan was honorable mention. Barneveld had two first-team nods - Logan Johnson and Josh Slaney - as well as three honorable mention. Johnson was named conference player of the year.
Pecatonica had three named to the lists. Senior Devin Jeglum was first team and seniors Jason and Jeremy Meudt were honorable mention. Black Hawk senior T.J. Adams also got the nod for first team and senior teammate Cody Foster was honorable mention.
Juda, Argyle and Albany each had one selection. Juda sophomore center Joey Jordan was the youngest player honored in the conference, making the first team. Junior center Nate Thomas was Argyle's first-team nod and senior forward Bryce Hulbert represented Albany.
Monticello head coach Mark Olson split the conference coach of the year honors with Jack Capelle of Barneveld. Monticello and Barneveld tied for the conference championship, both finishing the season 11-1 and splitting the regular season series. Barneveld nipped Monticello in the sectional semifinal March 12 in double overtime, only to lose to Randolph one game from the state tournament.
