MONROE - Signup for the city singles tournament, the first of two summer tennis tournaments, is underway.
The city singles tennis tournament is slated for July 9-10. This is the 45th year of city tournaments sponsored by the Monroe Parks and Recreation Department.
The tournament is open to anyone and will offer four brackets. There will be a Class A men's bracket for intermediate to advanced players over the age of 14, a Class B men's bracket for intermediate to beginner players over the age of 14, a women's open bracket for all women over the age of 14, and a youth bracket for boys and girls 14 and younger.
The registration deadline is noon July 8. Once a bracket reaches 16 players, no more entrants will be allowed in that bracket. The entry fee is $12 for anyone older than 14, and $7 for 14 and younger.

All participants will be notified of their start time during the afternoon on July 8. Play could begin for all brackets at 8 a.m. July 9. Semifinals and finals will be held July 10 with play starting at 9 a.m.
