MONROE - Monona Grove had four different players score two goals en route to a 4-0 win over the Monroe boys hockey co-op on Saturday.

Monona Grove's Garret Vinge put the Silver Eagles on the board, scoring a goal on assists from Grady Gerothanas and Ryan Burger at the 10 minute, 4 second mark in the second period.

Monona Grove's Sam Smith scored a goal late in the second period to extend the Silver Eagles' lead to 2-0.

"We started off the night playing really well," Monroe coach Josh Smith said. "In the first period, we were being aggressive and beating MG to the puck. But once we started the second period, we started hanging back and it killed us. We also had a problem capitalizing on our power-play opportunities. We are at the point where we are doing things right physically. We just need to be there mentally. It's the only thing holding us back from winning games."

The Silver Eagles outshot the Avalanche 47-31. Monroe freshman goalie Heath Bear had 43 saves.

With the loss, Monroe drops to 0-11, 0-6 Badger South.
