DUBUQUE - The Monroe High School boys track and field team had six top-10 finishes at the University of Dubuque Indoor Classic Saturday to tie for 15th out of 18 teams.
"We were a little short-handed on spring break," Monroe coach Scott Mosher said. "We just wanted to get the rust off and get a really good workout. The idea was to run hard in a first race and come back and run hard again in a second race."
Verona racked up 80 points to capture the team title over Madison West (63). The Cheesemakers cored 12 points.
Monroe junior Dylan Scace finished fifth in the 800-meter run in a time of 2 minutes, 7.86 seconds. Junior Brayden Zettle took sixth in the 400 (54.86), and junior Drake Ingold was sixth in the 1,600 (4:48.59).
Drake's older brother, Parker, took eighth in the 3,200 (10:3). Kyle Legler finished 10th in the 3,200 (10:34.42).
Sophomore Jordan Montgomery finished 10th in the 55 dash (6.88 seconds).
