Shell named top player

MONROE - Albany junior Isaiah Shell was named the Six Rivers East Conference Player of the Year recently.

Shell, who averaged 22.2 points per game, was named first team all-conference after leading the Comets to a fifth place finish in the conference.

Six Rivers East Conference champion Black Hawk (23-2, 11-1 Six Rivers East) had two first team all-conference players in junior Seth Butler and sophomore Heath Butler. Black Hawk made a run to the sectional semifinal where they lost to eventual state champion Randolph 56-53. Black Hawk coach Corey Manlick was named the conference coach of the year.

A trio of Monticello players were also named first team all-conference including senior Bryce Klitzke, junior Lucas Marty and sophomore Ben May. The other area first team all-conference players are Juda senior Matt Trotter and Argyle freshman Riley Ostby.

Black Hawk had three players named honorable mention all-conference including senior Coltin Piefer, senior Merik Meythaler and senior Cuyler Meier. Juda seniors Cole Bauman and Kade Allen were also named honorable mention as was Pecatonica sophomore Drew Schliem.
