PLATTEVILLE - Junior Cammi Ganshert and the Monroe girls track team set a blazing pace at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville's Williams Fieldhouse on Tuesday.

Ganshert won the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.47 seconds and the 200 (27.41). Ganshert's win in the 55 was 0.7 seconds ahead of Mount Horeb senior Madelyn LaBorde. Ganshert was coming off of setting the school record in the 55 (7.45 seconds) at the Dubuque Classic Friday.

"She went out and ran just about the same time," Monroe girls track coach Eric Jubeck said. "She went out (in the 200) the first 50 meters and really set the pace. I'm not surprised by what she is doing. She works really hard. She's just a classy sprinter."

The invitational wasn't scored, but the Cheesemakers turned in some impressive performances.

"The point of the meet is to get some events down and see where your kids are at," Jubeck said. "There were a lot of positives."

Monroe sophomore Cassi Gersbach won the triple jump (33 feet, 5 ¾ inches), finished second in the 55 hurdles (9.57) and took third in the 400 (1:06.31).

"She's just a very versatile athlete," Jubeck said of Gersbach. "She really had a great year as a freshman last year. I have no doubt in my mind that she will take a step forward this year."

Monroe junior Emma Sanders took third in the 200 (29.91). Monroe junior Faith Koester won the high jump with a jump of 4 feet, 10 inches. She edged Pecatonica-Argyle sophomore Addisyn Noble, who also cleared 4-10, on a tiebreaker. Koester made 4-10 on her first jump.

The Cheesemakers' 800 relay team of freshman Koester, Megan Benzschawel, senior Sydney Mathiason and freshman Abby Price took second with a time of 2:00.47. With four different runners in the 800-relay compared to when the Cheesemakers ran 1:56 in the 800 relay in the Dubuque Classic on Friday, the relay still ran one of the meet's top times.

"I'm thrilled with the depth we have in the sprints," Jubeck said.

Fellow Monroe sophomore Chloe Bunker took fourth in the shot put (32-10 ½).

The Darlington girls swept the top two spots in the 800. Darlington senior Reghan Komprood won the 800 (2:43.07) and senior teammate Emma Crist was second (2:44.82). Senior teammate Ilse Mendez took first in the 3,200 (12:42.31). Sugar River

Darlington sophomore Lizzie Schwartz placed fourth in the 55 hurdles (10.34).

Sugar River senior Walela Three-Sticks placed fourth in the triple jump (30-7 ¼) and fourth in the long jump[ (14-0 ½).

In the boys invitational, Monroe dominated the 1,600 sweeping the top three spots and the 800 taking the top two spots. Monroe junior Kyle Legler won the 1,600 with a time of 4:48.26. Sophomore teammate Dylan Fahrney took second (5:06.28) and sophomore Jake Bower was third (5:17.62).

"We continue to show some depth in the 800 and 1,600," Monroe coach Scott Mosher said. "Jake Bower really has improved since cross country. It was a heck of a race by him."

Mosher had a goal for the Cheesemakers coming off their season opener in the Dubuque Classic Saturday.

"I wanted to see how they would bonce back after shaking off some of the rust from the first meet of the year Saturday," he said. "We just really looked forward to getting back out there and competing."

Monroe senior Drake Ingold won the 800 (2:03.09) and senior Jason Koller took second (2:06.49).

"Those are really good times for this time of year against this competition," Mosher said.

Koller teamed with Monroe senior Jevon Gibson, junior Jordan Montgomery and freshman Trevor Rodebaugh to win the 800 relay (1:38.89). Montgomery won the 55 (6.79 seconds).

Monroe senior Brayden Zettle won the triple jump (41-2) and took second in the 200 (24.41).

"He's a little bit ahead of where he was last year at this time," Mosher said of Zettle in the triple jump. "Getting 41 this early is great. He didn't get that far until outdoors last year. He's ahead of pace. It will be fun to see how far he goes."

Senior teammate Tyson Welsch placed third in the shot put (44-2).

"It's his first two meets and he threw two furthest all-time," Mosher said of Welsch. "He's off to a great start."

Darlington senior Grady Rielly finished first in the 55 hurdles (8.08 seconds) and Rodebaugh placed second (8.75). Rodebaugh also took fourth in the long jump (18-6 ½). Darlington junior Payton Heinberg won the 3,200 (10:35.03) and sophomore teammate Bailey Schwartz took third (11:26.91).

Evenstad finished fourth in the high jump (5-8). Pecatonica-Argyle's 3,200 relay team of sophomore Kyle Hartley, sophomore Payton Flannery, sophomore Troy Nickels and junior Joseph Tisch finished fifth (9:46.33).
